I have social phobia. I don’t have health insurance or anything.
How Do I Get Over The Shame Of Being Intimidated My Whole Life? I’ve always taken people’s shit and when there was a high tension situation I always tried to defuse it and get away from the situation as fast as possible. I didn’t give a damn about what they were saying or what they did I just wanted to keep it arising to a physical altercation. There were even times when people put their hands on me and I didn’t do anything besides freeze and up want to cry. People made fun of me because I didn’t stand up for myself and at the time I thought the only thing that mattered was not getting hurt but now many years later it is causing serious mental health problems and I haven’t been able to really enjoy life for about 3 years now. The anger and regret/shame that I harbor is too intense and traumatizing to forget. I have been diagnosed by my psychiatrist with ptsd and I have been to therapy and taken anti-depressants for a while none of which really helped me it just made me feel more pathetic for needing them when other guys would have just toughened up and gotten over it. I feel so angry and betrayed in every way and I don’t think a controlled fighting situation like boxing or martial arts would take away the shame from the past, which is what keeps successfully haunting me.
I was just adding in some details at the end but really the question is how do I get over the shame? Whether you believe I have “real” ptsd or not is not of my concern I’d just like some advice on how to cope with the past and get over it.
The thing is Ahmed, I wanted nothing more than to hurt them. I’d love to have fucked up and knocked the teeth out of the people who bullied me and I wish I did to this day. I hate them for what they did to me when i tried to befriend them. I was too scared of ME getting hurt. I’m scared to lose a fight so i’ve never been in one. I’m scared if I stood up to them they would of ganged up on me. I’m terrified of physical combat and that’s where the shame comes from. I don’t care about hurting someone if they hurt someone in the first place.
