How to Effectively Target Your Marketing
Advertising has traditionally entailed the creation and dissemination of promotional content that, one hopes, will attract the interest of new customers while also building a professional and wide brand image and awareness. Hopelessly inefficient, this form of advertising has been largely replaced by the rise of targeted advertising – helped along by big data sets […]
Why SEO is Important for startups?
Most of the startups just look at paid advertising as an Avenue to bring visitors to their website. The problem is that paid advertising requires you to spend a consistent amount of money. On the other hand, when you're looking at SEO, you would realize that the cost of running SEO campaign is much lower. […]

The Importance of Internet Marketing for Your Business

With the impressive growth of the internet and the surge in e-commerce, various businesses are going online and use digital marketing services for their business. […]
Do Businesses Use Econometrics Or Statistics? I just started studying this field and I can’t get my head around these matters. It would really help if an economist who actually makes a living out of it or a company who has recently used these services could explain this:
1) Why would a company demand more statistics than econometrics (if that happens or in what scenarios)?
2)What kind of companies use these services and how much does it help them?
3) Also this is a more technical question (do they use theoretical econometrics or applied econometrics or “bayan” econometrics?
4) Which part of the econometrics field do you need to know in order to be able to market yourself i.e. make consulting company ? this could be repetitive if #3 answers this one, however my book divides econometrics into applied and theoretical, and then each of these two into classical and baynesian or bayan. I would really like to understand how is this actually you in the real world (the book onlexplaines classical-theoretical) Let’s say I wanted to put a consulting econometrics business …What would I miss in my development if I only studied classical-theoretical econometrics? Which one is necessary and which one isn’t? What are their differences (when applied in the real world)?
5) Can you make an example of what an econometrics consultant does for a company?
6) What methods do you use? For example, is it gathering data and using computer crunching programs to get your solution or do consultants make surveys (like in the streets, internet)?
7) In the fields where econometrics is used, which are interesting, and which is your favorite and why?
I am asking this because I could not get it out of the books I have. These questions are more career oriented. I’ve always liked math and computers but since stats always seemed really easy and useless, (and econometrics seems to be stats just at a whole ‘nother level, I still can’t grasp its significance and use out there in the market.
Thanks a lot for taking your time and have a great 2014 to all of you.
I will make it as many points as I can but I haven’t used this for a while.
Accountancy Question? Ram and Raghav were twin brothers. Ram was interested in computers. His keen interest in the subject made him take up Software Engineering for his degree course. Raghav was always interested in sitting at his fatherâs shop at the nearby market place selling electrical appliances.
Their father felt that if the interest of the two sons be put together, they could start a flourishing business of their own. The boom in the IT industry made him find ways to satisfy his sonsâ dreams. He decided to start a computer business for his sons. He asked Raghav, a commerce graduate, to draw up a proposal for the same.
The locality where they operated from consisted of middle income group families. Ram wanted that they purchase 10 computers and start with the first two areas of operation and expand when things go well. Their father spent 1,00,000 on the construction of the shop and gave them 2,50,000 for the business. The sons managed to get a loan to the extent of 75% of the cost of computers, which were priced at 4,00,000 with printers. Total amount to be repaid was determined at 3,60,000 including interest in three equal annual installments with the annual interest of 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 interest respectively.
They started business on 1st April 2011. Raghav decided to deposit 2,40,000 in the bank. 3,00,000 out of the bank loan availed. He deposited 1,000 for the electrical connection with the Electricity Board. He paid deposit of 1,00,000 with BSNL for internet connection of the shop. The brothers got the cyber café furnished by paying 25,000. Raghav got brochures printed at the cost of 4,500. All the payments were to be made by cheque. All receipts were in cash to be deposited in the bank on the same day.
The students on an average paid a monthly fee of 500 for three month computer training classes. There were a number of internet subscribers and receipts on account of internet facility was 10,000 a month in the first quarter on an average. They decide to buy and sell computer stationery also like CDs, pen drives, Hard disks etc. At the end of the year, their results were as under:
Total revenue including sale of computer stationery 4,98,000
Purchase of computer stationery 55,000
Electricity charges yet to be paid 1,24,000
Telephone Charges34,000
Petty Expenses12,000
Entertainment Expenses10,000
Maintenance Expenses10,000
There was a helper at the shop who was paid 500 per month. They withdrew 6,000 by cheque each month for their personal expenses and paid the bank loan regularly.
