Do I Need To Claim Money From My Roomate As Income? My situation is a little unique (more so than most). Both mine and my mother’s name are on the mortgage (she paid down payment) to my condo and I live with my best friend who splits everything with me with no profit, his rent is exactly half of the mortgage and HOA and the utilities are in my name but he pays me half (do I have to claim this). As for how I charge him, I take one lump sum for mortgage and hoa and then when the utilities are due he pays me half. Do I have to claim everything he pays or only parts of it (i.e. the lump sum)? I was also reading that my mortgage interest is tax deductible not because I have a tenant but because I meet income requirements (no more than $12000/yr I’m a full time student I do plan on taking tax deductions for that as well). Like anyone else my goal is to get the most back as I possibly can since it helps with books and paying my student loan interest. And for those out trolling, I don’t take advantage of my mother I take advantage of the credit building opportunity she offered me and she is making a buy and hold investment on the property since I will take no profit from the sale and with my RE license will save her commission. Thanks in advance for the knowledge!

Can Sellers See Who Purchases E-book? I want to buy a book an old acquaintance has written. I’m slightly paranoid that they will know it’s me who’s purchasing however. So, can sellers see who buys their e-books?
