Setting Up A “safe” Personal Web Server.? I want to set up a personal web server. It won’t be intended for the public, mainly just a learning experience. I’d like to be able to upload files to it remotely, run DVR/NVR security camera software on it which can be accessed remotely, etc.
But my main question is, how can I do it, while still having my home network be safe from hackers? If someone were to hack into my personal server, would they be able to in turn access other PC’s connected to the same router/wireless network? Or are they safe? Are there steps to be taken to make my personal pc’s 100% safe, completely isolated from the server even if it is compromised?
Ex-Roommate Ignoring Me To Keep Security Deposit? I moved out of my apartment early for health reasons (signing my security deposit over to my ex-roommate). They found a new tenant and they paid my ex-roommate their deposit which is suppose to go to me so I will no longer have a deposit on the apartment and the new tenant will receive the deposit I made when they move out next year. My ex-roommate agreed to give me the deposit plus $100 from the new tenant because I was leading him my furniture for the remainder of the lease. Tuesday she said she had the money and that she would send it in the next few days. Ever since I have not been able to get in touch with her. She has been on social networking sites so I know she has been getting the text messages and calls. She is just blatantly ignoring me in the hopes that she can just keep my deposit. What can I do?Especially because the new tenant still has my bed that he hasn’t paid for. I’ve documented everything but I’d rather not get lawyers involved.
In response to the first answer- if she sent it on Tuesday why wouldn’t she just tell me? We left things on bad terms and she already threatened to take the money from me. So no, I’m not being annoying I’m trying to not be robbed of $900.
Also, the only way to get out of my lease was to sign the security deposit over. So not it was not stupid, it was required for the me to get out of my lease.
