Bullying Stats Before 2000? I’m curious about when attention was drawn to raise awareness against bullying. My father has brought up how when he was in high school (1970s), it was common for kids to just put up with it. If this is true, do any of you think social media could’ve made it a bigger deal, or caused young adults to act more emotionally to being the subject of bullying? If that’s the case, why aren’t kids as emotionally stable as they used to be?

Just pure curiosity. I can’t seem to find any statistics as far as how children used to react to bullying/harassment. I’m also curious if anyone knows whether kids used to commit suicide as often as they do today due to being bullied during their school-age years.

These are completely objective viewpoints and questions. Please only answer if you have factual evidence or can draw comparisons from your own experience.

Why Are Girls So Attracted To Confidence? What is it about a confident man that interests you?

I had a pretty shitty childhood growing up. I was beaten, treated like trash, etc… This has led to an extreme lack of confidence in all areas. I have trouble talking to people in general, let alone women.
Confidence isnt easy to build up, especially if youve been taught your whole life not to have any…
Its unfair that a guy who grew up in a normal househould where he was taught he was a normal person has better prospects than someone who grew up in a trash environment…
Its easy to say, “Just be confident”… But it really isnt that easy… Thats a complete myth… Ive been told Im worthless, a shitty person, trash, etc… all my life… and now all of a sudden Im supposed to create a puffy, imaginary “confidence“ out of no where?

The thing that really irritates me is the treatment I get from women when they notice how much confidence Im lacking. Its like Im a second hand citizen. Theres a slight tinge of disgust on their face. I have become very aware of the subtleties of body language as a way to cope with what I went through, and I notice far too often the negative reactions of women. I notice it from men, too, but not as much, because it seems that women are more off-put than men by lack of confidence.

Its as though its OK if a woman doesnt have confidence, but a grievous sin if a man doesnt.

I guess this is more a rant than a question… but Im still confused as to why its OK to view confidence as the be-all/end-all of a mans sexual prospects. Is it because it has been culturally engrained in us through social medium that a man is supposed to be confident while a woman is supposed to be “beautiful“?
@Cinnamon… I never implied that Im entitled to beauty, or anything for that matter. I was just raising a point about social and societal dogma… Im actually someone who sees personality as far more important than outer beauty. I feel, though, as Im in the minority, and that society is obsessed with physical beauty, generally.

As to your point B, I understand that things seen from the outside are nothing like what they really are behind closed doors. I grew up in a financially successful/stable house, but on all other levels it was Hell. My parents presented themselves very well to people, and it left people wondering “Whats wrong with him?“, because my parents seemed like such perfect people… By normal I meant emotionally/mentally healthy households.

Is This World Going To Crap? I am 23 years old. I am a 90’s kid, And even I am seeing that things are so different these days. And not in a good way. The government is a joke, friendship and relationships are a joke. The media and social networking such as Facebook and Twitter are ruining how people interact with each other on a daily basis. People are more mentally ill and self centered than ever…people are committing Suicide younger and younger these days. I guess on the bright side the internet is educational on some ways…but I just feel that people in general have changed in our Society. And not in a good way, you can’t trust anyone anymore.

I completely agree with u. Social media is ruining our society as we know it. People interact with each other in a really weird way now of days. Nobody is a good friend anymore. People are 2faced and weird. Everyone is judge mental. Some areas of our country are not though. People out west and down south are friendlier. People from the Midwest and northeast are snobby. I am from a suburb of detroit and people around here live in a shell. They have no clue what the world is like. Their rich parents send them to michigan state n they hangout with the same friends from high school still.
