Question About Getting Caught Torrenting? My buddy downloaded alot of movies and music from torrent sites such as The Pirate Bay and IsoHunt. He got caught once for downloading Gran Torino before it hit theaters. The Internet provider contacted him and basically just gave him a warning… Ive heard that it gets alot worse for others tho…
My question is… if His computer wasn’t registered to him and he formatted his computer (or just threw it away) would there be any chance of him getting caught? In other words… could somebody trash their computer so the FEDs would have no evidence?
I want to say that I do NOT pirate music myself… but friends have let me watch movies that THEY have downloaded…
For data destruction that you want no possible way of recovering data, the best way would be to take the hard drive and smash it in millions of pieces then throw little bits away in multiple places. As for getting caught with pirated material, normally they only catch you while you are uploading or downloading. They use special software to monitor bittorrent traffic of known pirated content. They then would send a notice to the ISP, who then notifies you. If someone gives you pirated content, they will not know unless they get a hold of your computer.
