Are My Extracurricular Activities Good Enough For US And UK Universities? Well, actually, I am from BANGLADESH and have had an UK education (Edexcel IGCSE completed and A Level will be completed next summer). Though, we have a moderately good “education” thanks to the UK curriculum, our schools offer next to nothing on extracurricular activities. To give you an example, we don’t even have a good library! >.< So, you can see, extracurricular options are hard to come by. I have tried my best to "found" some extracurricular options for my school and the neighborhood. We have been "debating" on and off for the last five years. Recently, I started a formal debate club with me as the president. We hold meetings twice a week and I dare say, its going well! Other than that, I have participated in several science fairs (both school ones and notable nationals) and have come second once at a congress science fair. Me and a few of my friends are planning on founding a good school library with funding from the school and collecting donation from the neighborhood. Also, our school, fortunately, has a biannual cultural program where we host traditional, classical and modern plays. I am often the screenwriter and a co-director. For NTA (non-teenage activities) I think I have a few advantages. I have been teaching pupils for, like 3-4 years and am also a mathematics teacher at a high-school coaching center. Plus, I have a published novella and a published poetry collection too, if that counts. Being a well-rounded individual is what universities ask for. Well, I think my academic records are quite clean and up to standards for the Ivy League level! Perhaps, the book publication and drama involvement fills in the artistic requirement. The library is a community service more or less. The debate checks communication and leadership. And the science fair certificates will indicate a competitive ability. However, I am not much good with athletics. I am a good hand at Chess, and enjoy badminton and cricket. Could you please suggest which of the three will be the best for me? (I am quite skinny! :p) I am willing to work hard and in most cases the things I listed above were inspired by interest or the will to do good, rather than for an impressive CV. It was later (after my IGCSE) that I learned about the high priority of extra curricular activities for the Ivy League colleges and their UK equivalent! So I would like to ask your opinion on whether my extra curricular activities are good enough if I stick to them. I will appreciate advise on how to improve them and also suggestion for the athletic section! P.S DIS is the name of my school [Dhaka International School (DIS)] If my A Level and IGCSE scores are converted to US GPA, so far, they are 4.0/4.0 because I have all A* s . I am completing 4 more subjects next summer and am expecting A* s too. For SAT I, I am practicing for coming October exam, and I am averaging around, like 2000 out of 2400 and I think I can take it up higher! And in SAT II (Math II, Physics, Chemistry) I am averaging 1800 and I think with practice, I can take it a lot higher! So, should I do ACT and TOEFL too? I could perhaps take my SAT scores past 2200 because i still have like 3 months to prepare 🙂

In 16 And Pregnant. My Bfs 19. Need Advice!? Please save your rude comments, i live in Illinois. im 16 turning 17 in August. my boyfriend of 2 years is 19 turning 20 in November. i recently found out im pregnant. im 12 weeks. my father however does not approve of this. he has tooken away alot of my privileges including our communication with eachother, considering the fact that i pay my own phone bill which is not under his name. i can’t step anywhere outside my house which is unhealthy. he hasn’t even talked too me nor has he tooken me too see any Dr. i am aware that he filed a police report on him but it wasn’t rape or anything because i wasn’t forced into having sex with him. my boyfriend however doesn’t even live in my city he lives 30 minutes away. outta the county boundary. that’s 2 different counties. im not sure what the right thing to do is. we are aware that he can get into lots of trouble for this. police said that if i was 17 they really couldn’t do much about it.. his mom wants me too leave with them but i don’t wanna risk leaving & my father calling the cops having him arrested. what would be the best thing too do? if i leave could the cops do anything? since i pay my own phone which is NOT under my fathers name does he have any right in taking it from me? thanks in advance
