How To Know If You Have A Harry Potter First Edition? I want to get the books in first edition, but how would I know if I have them in first edition? Also, how much would each book go for in first edition?

The first printing of the first UK edition of the first HP book is the most valuable one at around 6000$. Most other editions are worth a little less than what you paid for them and are just regular used books for the most part. The link below tells you how to recognize the first printing first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher stone
Check out ebay or for edition prices but be aware every book is worth whatever others are ready to pay to get them.

What to look for to see if a book is valuable:
1/ The edition/printing. In most cases, the first edition/printing of a book is the most valuable. However, any edition that is special in some way can have value. For example an edition that contains a mistake that makes it famous or if the factory burnt and the new special edition with extra material by the author was all but destroyed and only 10 copies are left.
2/ The rarity of the book. The rarer, the better.
3/ Any marking of note. A copy signed by the author for example or annoted by the author. Or I once saw here someone who had a copy of Alice in Wonderland signed from the director of the 1922 silent movie to the main actor.
4/ Condition is important, but not an absolute. A rare book in bad condition can still fetch a good price if finding it in perfect condition is impossible.
5/ Popularity. That’s the factor that really matters the most. A book is worth what others are prepared to pay to get their hands on it. So this is the factor that ties together all the others. The more people want one particular copy of a book, the higher the price goes.
What this means is that nobody cares about a first edition of a book in perfect condition that only has 10 copies left in the world signed by the author to his editor if that author is someone completely unknown. That’s another reason that while expensive books are often old, age is not really a relevant factor. A book from 1823 has no value if nobody cares who the author is. However the first printing of the first UK edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling goes for around 6000$ because it’s rare (only 500 copies were originally printed) and extremely popular.
