Review of FreeSoftwareDiscounts.com

We all need software. Our phones need software. Our cars need software. Our appliances need software. And, course, our computers, laptops, and tablets need software.

Knowing that, consider this: How can we find an buy the software we need without losing our shorts? Well, read on, McDuff…

What is FreeSoftwareDiscounts.com?

According to the owner:

The website currently has 27,937 Active Software Discounts. (And, that number is climbing as I write this :).

There isn't another site that has more software coupons and discounts. We pull this data dynamically from over 10 different data feeds so our discounts are always up to date.

We also have a function on the site that flags discounts that don't work, so if there is a coupon code or discount available for a piece of software, FreeSoftwareDiscounts.com will have it.

We also have direct relationships with a large number of software companies that provide us coupons and discounts specifically for our site.

Is the purpose of the website clear?

Definitely so. The website clearly presents the product line (software, and lots of it).

Can a newbie figure out what the website is trying to accomplish?

I should hope so. If not, then the newbie probably shouldn't have a computer to begin with (just kidding :).

What does it look like?

The theme has a Modern look, with a Pinterest-like appearance on the home page.

On the home page, each featured software title has its own little “cell” with a cover photo and short description. Clicking on the photo takes you to a product page with more details, product features, and purchase options.

Clicking on the “Activate Discount” button pops up a window that activates the discount and then go to a shopping cart.

The purchasing process is very smooth.

Is the design appealing? Is it cluttered? Does the color scheme work?

This is a WordPress site using an e-commerce oriented theme.

The design of the website is minimalist, which eliminates a cluttered appearance. The white background really allows the images to “pop”, and is very easy on the eyes.

Navigation

Do the hyperlinks work?

I clicked on several links in the header, content area, and footer. All seemed to be functional and redirected me to the appropriate page. It should be noted that there was no hesitation after the links were clicked – in other words the website is fast.

Is it easy to naviagate? Is there a site map?

The designers of the website obviously took great care in setting up the navigation.

The header includes  all of the basic links you expect for top level navigation – home, categories, etc..

The footer includes all of the links generally considered to be “legal” in nature – about, terms, site-map, etc.

The links in the content area are used to navigate to the product posts, and in some cases, tabs for featured products, popular products and the latest products added. The tabs make it easy to organize your search.

I tried a couple searches in the large search box on the front page. I was impressed with the search suggestions that came up. This is a very nice feature, and well worth the visit just to try it out.

Overall, this is a very well designed website.

Miscellany

Is there a privacy policy? Is there an about page? Is there a contact page?

Yes, all of the expected pages are located in the footer navigation

Overall Impression

The website fits all of my criteria for an excellent rating – useful, easy to use, and not annoying. Rarely do I visit a website that impresses like this one did.

I recommend FreeSoftwareDiscounts.com, and suggest that you check it out.
