If you hold a 9 to 5 job but want to get into business, you can say that network marketing is best for you. Before we get into the specifics of the how and why, however, let us first define what network marketing is.

Network marketing is actually a business model that consists of a network of up-lines and down-lines. In the beginning, someone will sponsor you to join a company and you become his or her down line. When you’re in, you then sponsor people so that they become your down lines as well. But this isn’t all there is to it. A networking company should have real products to sell to real people, otherwise, if it is only relying on start-up fees to pay its existing members or up-lines, then it’s nothing more than a pyramid scam.

Thus, in this kind of business, you earn money in three ways: the membership fee of your down lines, commissions on products you sell, and overriding commissions on products your down line sells. If you’re wondering if networking is a profitable business model, yes it is, and it is best for business newbies like you for the following reasons:

1. Low start-up costs

Unlike brick-and-mortar businesses, you don’t need thousands of dollars to get started. The start-up costs typically pay for the the rights to market the company’s products, and your initial stocks of the product.

2. Work at your own pace

Because it’s not a sales job, you don’t have a boss breathing down your neck to make sales. In fact, you are your own boss and your success or failure in the business really depends on you.

3. Training

Almost all networking companies offer some kind of training to help you succeed. Product trainings are basic but there are companies that offer networking training. If you don’t have any experience in networking at all, this will come in handy and helpful.

4. Unlimited potential residual income

Like we said before, one of the ways that you can earn money in networking is through overriding commissions. This means that you don’t have to work for the money, you can let other people do it for you. This is probably what makes network marketing very attractive to many people. Of course, if you want to make full-time residual income, you need to work at building a network of down-lines who have you as their sponsor.

5. Potential full-time income

It may take some time and a lot of work, but it is possible for anyone to make a full-time income from this type of business. But of course, before you join a company, you need to make sure that it has real products to sell that many people want. Do NOT deal with networking marketing companies that rely on membership fees alone for its income.
