WASHINGTON (AFP) – US lawmakers announced plans on Friday to introduce “Do Not Track” legislation that would let Web users block businesses from gathering data about their on the web actions.

Senator Jay Rockefeller, a Democrat from West Virginia, said his “Do Not Track On the web Act of 2011″ will supply a “basic, straightforward way for people to cease organizations from tracking their every single move on the Web.”
