OSLO (Reuters) – Anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, the Web and a Russian human rights activist are amongst a record 241 nominations for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee mentioned on Tuesday that the 2011 field contains 53 organizations and tops final year’s 237 nominees.

Acknowledged nominees also contain Afghan rights advocate Sima Samar, the European Union, former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Cuban dissident Oswaldo Paya Sardinas, Russian rights group Memorial and its founder Svetlana Gannushkina.

(AP)  Americans spent 13 percent a lot more on the internet this holiday season, ringing up a record $ 30.81 billion in on the web sales, with computer hardware and books and magazines recording the most growth.

The growth outpaces total holiday spending, which rose anywhere from 3.three percent to 5.5 percent, according to various estimates.
