Amazon is preparing the latest salvo in its fight to create an alternative app store to Google’s Android Market, but it’s not quite clear when the online retail giant intends to fire it.
That salvo is in-app purchases, a feature that, by all rights, would be a big addition to the features it offers in the Amazon Appstore. Sohu slides as investors not game for higher ad spend (Reuters)
BANGALORE/CHICAGO (Reuters) – Chinese Web portal Sohu.com Inc’s shares fell much more than 11 percent on Monday, as a 37 % rise in quarterly net profit failed to impress investors amidst falling gross margins and higher operating bills.
“Even though Sohu’s net income has risen in 3 straight quarters … the major location of concern appears to be that this is the fifth straight quarter that it saw shrinking gross margins,” TD Ameritrade’s chief derivatives strategist JJ Kinahan said.
Above the five-quarter period, margins have contracted virtually 1.75 % per quarter on a year-above-year basis, he mentioned.
