Article Writing

article writing

Article writing, especially for a web site on the Internet, is an art form which not only requires a knowledge of the chosen subject matter but a greater understanding of language and how the Internet’s search engines work. Equipped with the correct information you will be able to craft a masterpiece within a very short space of time. One published a quality article will compete far better than a quickly knocked together (or dare I say it plagiarized) article. Today’s search engines are cleverer than they ever were and their sole task is to provide links to sites which hold good quality information about the subject searched for. The search engine’s success is wholly based on the fact as to whether or not it returns good results. Simply put it is for this reason that it is imperative that you take your article writing very, very seriously.

Article Writing Software

As with any type of software there are software products available that are high quality and those which border on being useless. In our endless quest for riches many of us spend a great deal of time searching for quick and easy ways in which to make a fast buck or two. Unfortunately many Internet entrepreneurs succumb to the cleverly worded sales pages of the latest methods to hit the scene, often spending several thousand dollars within a very short space of time.

Don’t be a fool, take your time to investigate any purchases you make. Look at how long the author of the software has been online, visit some of his/her forums and search for feedback. There are a number of extremely successful marketeers out there who understand that they must maintain respect and these guys are far more likely to offer a product that works well, and not only that, they are often in the position to offer high quality support and future development.

Most article writing software works on a number of basic principals. Firstly they are designed to be a time saving tool for the prospective author, there is simply no benefit to a system that takes longer that writing copy 100% by hand. However there are a number of products that incorporate research tools which can add weight and interest to an article that you may not have thought about otherwise. It is often worth considering using these tools, even if it adds a few minutes extra work to your article writing project the additional information discovered could prove priceless.

Personally I have a small number of article writing software products which I use for various stages of creation. One excellent tool, which is also rather expensive, I sadly only really use as a glorified notepad however I find the built in spell checker one of the best available and the way in which it analyzes my articles content and reports back various percentages ensures that I do not repeat certain words too often or that I do not give my keywords too much providence, which, if done incorrectly could lead to a search engine interpreting my article as “spam”.

Know Your Subject Matter

Even though there is plenty of article writing software products available you can never really beat an article written by a real human being who is fully knowledgeable about the subject material being written about. I have found that I can write a good quality article about a subject I know well far faster than any software on the market. However, even if you think you know it all about your chosen subject you should always allow some time for additional research.

When researching a subject online you should always understand that if you copy an article it is highly likely that this will backfire on you from a number of directions. Firstly the author may discover your article and would be, justifiably, annoyed but also search engines such as Google and Yahoo are increasingly penalizing sites which present duplicate content as their own.

Another very important factor to keep in mind when researching online is that the article you are reading may not actually understand what he is writing about and it may contain blatant errors, you should always attempt to verify all facts before including anything new into your article writing. For example I recently had call to investigate famous Scottish people and in particular information about the Scottish kings and queens. Now as we go back in time there is often less source material and deciding which information is correct is a matter of judgment. However I was horrified to discover that a very highly respected site stated clearly that one king was actually married to his daughter who later fathered his father – how impossible is that? Seriously, by carefully studying the facts presented this is what it was stating. To make matters even worse it was clear that many other sites had used this site as a source of information so the impossible facts where repeated all over the Internet. In the end it took me all day, and a trip to the local library, to discover the truth of the matter. After a full days study I was able to understand how the problem had arisen, kings are often names as a surname followed by a Roman numeral and by incorrectly stating the number on two occasions the chaos was created. I had learnt a very important lesson that day, you should never, under any circumstances, accept another person’s writing as pure fact unless it is supported elsewhere. Furthermore you should always attempt to fully understand the subject before embarking upon article writing.
