How Does Social Bookmarking Help Build Backlinks?
I've never tried this process of link building. I usually do forum posts, blog comments, article marketing, blogging, doorway pages, member profiles, and web directories.
I guess I just don't know what it is! I don't really understand how the system works. Does digg.com put up a link to your site or something? I'm confused at how this system helps me build backlinks.

Message in a Bottle (Snap Case)If, as they say, you're in a certain mood, Message in a Bottle can be just the ticket. Based on Nicholas Sparks's bestselling novel, this handsome but overly calculated romance tale stars Robin Wright Penn as Theresa, a Chicago Tribune researcher who finds a note encased in a green bottle that has floated onto a Cape Cod shore. The message within is a heartfelt, yearning declaration of love to a woman named Catherine, but the author is unknown until Theresa (rather improbably) tracks him down in North Carolina. He's Garret Blake (Kevin Costner), a taciturn builder of sailboats and a grieving widower whose late wife, poetically speaking, was the intended recipient of the seafaring note Theresa found. Theresa, a divorcée with a son, decides to meet Garret, only to find him as bottled-up as his message. Nevertheless, a romance blooms on the strength of quality time in a sailboat and lots of cuddling, though the script tosses in bits of conflict to keep their relationship spicy. Directed by Luis Mandoki (When a Man Loves a Woman), this love story is entirely by the numbers, with Costner inhabiting (rather than performing) a stock fantasy of a man perfect in every way save his broken heart. Penn brings more vibrancy to her equally predictable part, but fortunately for all, Paul Newman, John Savage, Robbie Coltrane, and Illeana Douglas are on hand in nicely textured character parts. Sometimes predictability is exactly what one wants when settling in for an evening of home video, and this movie fits the bill nicely. The appealing cinematography is by ace cameraman Caleb Deschanel. --Tom Keogh

Unfortunately, big social sites like Yahoo Answers Digg Facebook and others tag any posted link as ‘nofollow’ – so it actually has zero impact in terms of SEO back linking. However, a link is a link, and is always good to post one. The more people walk to your link, the more visitors you will have to your site.
I’d like to know this too. In my own limited experience, I find you still need to network at the networking sites; this means you find friends, participate in forums, and take an active part in your presence there.
This means you have to add links to your blog/site, while also adding your site to your profile.
A good site for blogging marketing is http://www.problogger.net
The author there suggests it takes time to build up hits. I’m still trying to figure out how to do this, but my numbers went from 2-3 to 50+ per day.
Sounds like you’re already doing some back linking! It’s just exactly what it sounds like – a link back to the original item. So if you digg or stumble an article, that creates a link back to the article. People can now find your article by clicking someplace rather than coming to you directly. The more of these and the better the source of them, the better for you.
