I just sent my best ever mail shot. It had the highest read and click rates of any mailing I’ve ever sent and drove nearly seven hundred unique visitors to our site in just a couple of hours.
I’ve actually ruined our GA chart, as now it just has this massive spike on the day I sent it!
So how did I do it?

1. Avoid sending emails, or using data that doesn’t have the recipient’s name in it – personalising emails guarantees much higher response rates.
2. Don’t send emails without your company details on (luckily mi|emailer does this for you automatically)
3. Avoid using lots of code – complex tables etc, and images with not enough text as this increases your spam score.

Marketing, by definition is: “the business activity of presenting products or services in such a way as to make them desirable” – what email marketing does, is take this previously expensive excercise widely considered as a black art, and place it in the hands of the layman.

Email marketing is sending emails to customers, newsletter subscribers, members, users; in fact anyone who has agreed that they are happy to revieve marketing emails.
Businesses will usually have a “sign up to our newsletter” tick box when someone registers on their website. Once sign-up is completed, the user’s email address will be recorded in a list of subscribers.
