Audio Streaming – How to Record Audio Stream

The internet is quite a multimedia medium these days and it’s not uncommon to come across many websites with audio available as a method of communication.

If you run your own website and are looking to add sound you might be asking the question “how do I stream audio from my website?”

Streaming audio from your website can be a very easy process. How you choose to do it will depend on your level of technical inclination.

Basically, here’s what needs to happen for you to stream audio from your website:

1. You need hosting – Your audio must ‘live’ somewhere. This is called being hosted. You can host it yourself, which means putting it on your website server. This can get expensive as the more you have the more space and bandwidth it will take up (costing you more money!)

2. You need a program – Once your audio is hosted somewhere you will need a software program to play it. Streaming audio means that it plays online and you don’t need to download it to your computer to hear it.

The Easiest Way to Add Sound on Your Website:

Even though I’m fairly technically savvy for the last five years I’ve chosen to use a software program called Audio Acrobat to host and stream all my audios. This makes it very easy for me.

But if there are hundreds or thousands of affiliates for a product, how can you stand out from the crowd if all you’re doing is using the same promo materials as everyone else?

One way would be to offer audio reviews of the products.

You don’t need pro-quality equipment because it’s better if you come across as “the guy (or girl) next door” who just wants to tell you about this cool new widget you found.

And you don’t need “internal” knowledge of the product — all you’re doing is letting people know what you like about the product, you’re not there to create a comprehensive audio tutorial.

Uses for Streaming Audio?

Some great uses are:

- audio articles
– interviews
– information products
– directions
– introductions
– welcome messages

Using audio on your website is just another way to make it ‘sticky’. Using this technique in combination with high quality information is sure to bring your visitors back again and again
